Leeds City of Welcome: Eat for Peace this Autumn!
Sunday 9 November 2008... in your home?!
(After June's very damp 'Welcome Parade', our plans for the autumn are to stay indoors...)
WANT TO HELP MAKE LEEDS a city of welcome and hospitality? SIGN UP NOW to ‘Leeds City of Welcome’ – an initiative launched this year by T4P and partners – at www.leedswelcomes.org.
Following the fun (but very wet!) ‘Welcome Parade’ in June, T4P are this November coordinating a series of meals in people's homes, for different people to eat and talk together, build relationships, and start to make a more united, equitable and hospitable city. When diverse, normal people choose to eat and form strong relationships together, as happened during South African apartheid, societies change - from the grassroots up.
Could you be part of such a movement in Leeds now? Are you free on SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER? Could you go to someone else’s home, hopefully near you, to eat and engage with different people? Or could you even host a meal at yours, with support from the Leeds City of Welcome team?
If so, get in touch, and we'll contact you with more info.
Thanks to The Cooperative Group for their support of this initiative. ‘Leeds City of Welcome’ is an associate of the national City of Sanctuary movement.
